Our Website Now Runs on Green Hosting

As a charity dedicated to protecting the most bird-diverse region on the planet, we believe our commitment to the environment should extend to every corner of what we do, including how our website is powered.

We are pleased to confirm that the Neotropical Birding and Conservation website now runs on verified green hosting. According to the Green Web Foundation, an independent organisation working towards a fossil-free internet, our site is hosted using green energy through verified green hosting provider Krystal listed in their Green Web Dataset.

Why this matters

It is easy to forget that the internet has a carbon footprint. Every website, image and click relies on data centres and networks that consume energy, and the source of that energy makes a real difference. By ensuring our site is hosted on green infrastructure, we are helping to keep the environmental cost of our online presence as low as possible.

For an organisation whose entire purpose is conservation, this feels only right. Protecting threatened bird species and their habitats, and reducing our own digital impact, are two sides of the same commitment.

A small step with a clear message

Green hosting is one part of a wider effort to make our work as sustainable as it can be. It reflects the values we share with our members, supporters and volunteers around the world, and it is a quiet but meaningful way of practising what we preach.

You can verify our green hosting status for yourself through the Green Web Foundation’s free Green Web Check tool. We are proud to display the result, and prouder still to keep finding ways to align our digital footprint with our mission in the field.
