This takes place once again at Lyndon Top near Oakham, overlooking Rutland Water, from 10th to the 12th of July. NBC will have its usual stand in Swallow Marquee, and I hope that anyone visiting the event will drop by and collect the latest issues of Neotropical Birding and Cotinga.
UK members will have received raffle tickets with the NB38 mailing, so if you haven’t already returned them to Chris Balchin, please bring them along to the stand. We have some wonderful prizes donated by Swarovski Optik, Wildsounds, and Living with Birds, so please try to sell your tickets as the income is useful in helping to fund our activities.
Neotropical highlights at Global Birdfair this year include a talk by Raymond Jeffers entitled “Finding the endemic birds of Hispaniola” on the Plover stage, 14.30 on Friday 10th, and NBC’s Annual General Meeting in the Owl Workshop at 18.00 on Saturday 11th. Apart from the statutory business, which will be brief, the meeting will include a talk by Dr. Rob Williams on the hardest birds to see in the Neotropics. Please come along if you can. An official notification for the AGM will be emailed to members shortly, with hard copies in the post for people we don’t hold email addresses for.
There are a host of other talks with Neotropical themes, and I will endeavor to send a much shorter newsletter detailing these closer to the event.
Once again, out attendance at this event has been part-subsidised by a donation from Wildwings/Limosa, who are the Conservation Sponsors for the event. Many thanks to Chris Collins for stepping up to the mark.
