Back in July NBC attended Global Birdfair at Lyndon Top, near Oakham. As usual we had a double stand, the costs of which were partly covered by sponsorship from Limosa & Wildwings, conservation sponsors for the event. Apart from the opportunity to meet members and hand out journals, the fair gives us some exposure to the wider birding public and also raise some funds through sales and our raffle. It was pleasing to see so many exhibitors from the region, and I hope that they will continue to visit in years to come.
On the Saturday night we held our AGM, which included a fantastic talk from Nick Acheson on Conservation in Bolivia, drawing on his ten years spent in-country and his continued work as an ambassador for BirdLife partner Asociación Armonía.
Over the weekend there were at least twelve lectures on a Neotropical theme, including one given on behalf of NBC by Dr. Lia Kajika. Twenty minutes is not nearly enough time to sum up twelve days birding in the Brazilian Amazon, but she had the audience enthralled.
